Holiday Shipping Guidelines

We encourage everyone shopping online to order as soon as possible to avoid the possibility of late delivery. Bad weather can cause delays and there is nothing either UPS or The Chess Store can do about this. Use the information below to help determine your shipping needs. Here are a couple of important factors to consider when placing your order and calculating when it will arrive.

1. The Chess Store is located just outside of Portland, Oregon and our zip code is 97124. Use the UPS Time-In-Transit Chart on this page or use our zip code on www.ups.com to calculate your time-in-transit.

2. Your order ships next business day if you place it after 8am PST (Friday after 8am ships on Monday) with some exceptions defined below.

3. The day you place your order, weekends, holidays, and UPS non-delivery days do not count as time-in-transit days.

4. UPS does not guarantee late delivery that is caused by bad weather.

Use the following information to determine what shipping method you need to insure your order arrives by Christmas Eve Day.

Wednesday, Dec. 23
Normal pickup and delivery service for air, international and ground packages. Next Day Air packages picked up today will arrive on Thursday, Dec. 24. 2nd Day Air packages picked up today will arrive on Saturday, Dec. 26.

Thursday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve
Normal delivery service for air, international and ground packages. No UPS Ground pickup service today. Pickup service provided for air and international shipments via UPS On-Call Pickup service, at all UPS Drop Boxes or if prearranged by Wednesday, Dec. 23. (Next Day Air packages picked up today will be delivered on Saturday, Dec. 26. 2nd Day Air packages picked up today will be delivered on Monday, Dec. 28.)

Friday, Dec. 25, Christmas
No UPS pickup or delivery. (UPS Express Critical service is available for urgent packages. Call 1-800-714-8779 or visit upsexpresscritical.com.)

Saturday, Dec. 26
Delivery of air, international and ground packages. No UPS Ground pickups today. Pickup service will be provided for air and international shipments if prearranged by Wednesday, Dec. 23. (Arrange an air or international pickup by calling 1-800-PICK-UPS or by letting your Account Executive or UPS driver know.) Air and international packages also will be picked up via UPS On-Call Pickup^®  service, at allUPS Drop Boxes, and at locations ofThe UPS Store^®.

Wednesday, Dec. 30
Normal pickup and delivery service for air, international and ground packages. (Next Day Air packages picked up today will arrive on Thursday, Dec. 31. 2nd Day Air packages picked up today will be delivered on Saturday, Jan. 2.)

Wednesday, Dec. 31, New Year's Eve
Delivery of air and international packages only. No UPS Ground pickups or deliveries today. Pickup service provided for air and international shipments via UPS On-Call Pickup service, at all UPS Drop Boxes or if prearranged by Wednesday, Dec. 30. (Next Day Air packages picked up today will be delivered on Saturday, Jan. 2.)

Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, New Year's Day
No UPS pickup or delivery. (UPS Express Critical service is available for urgent packages. Call 1-800-714-8779 or visit upsexpresscritical.com.)

Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010
Delivery of air and international packages only.

The Chess Store December Store Hours & Holidays

• November Store Hours: 7am to 5pm PST, Monday through Friday.

• December Store Hours: 7am to 6pm PST, Monday through Saturday.

• The Chess Store will be closed on Christmas Eve Day as there is no UPS pick up.

• The Chess Store will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day.

General Shipping Information

Shipping Methods

The Chess Store offers variety of shipping methods to meet your needs. We use UPS most of the services they offer. We also offer USPS Priority Mail for addresses that UPS cannot deliver to such as post office boxes. You can select your shipping method when completing the online order form.

In-Transit Time & Shipping Policies

Orders normally ship next business day. For calculating delivery, in-transit time starts the day after your order is shipped and is based on business days (M-F)only.

APO & FPO Addresses

The Chess Store gladly ships to APO and FPO addresses.

International Orders

The Chess Store ships to most "Safe Countries" and we use UPS for most international orders. Except for Standard UPS to Canada, the shipping amount does not include taxes, duty, and brokerage. These additional costs vary by country and it is the responsibility of the customer to pay any applicable fees upon delivery.

Shipment Notification & Tracking Number

You will receive an email with tracking information the evening your order ships. From this email you can track the status of your order. Orders shipped by USPS Priority Mail will not receive a tracking number.
